Bird watching point

Birdwatchers welcome.

More than million birds of prey migrate every autumn through the Batumi Bottleneck at the Black Sea. At no other place in the West-Palearctic had similar numbers of migrating raptors ever been observed during autumn.

The autumn migration consisted mainly of Honey-buzzard and Steppe Buzzard, both daily peaking 50000 and more. Other numerous species include Black Kite and Levant Sparrowhawk, Marsh and str. Currently 34 species of raptors have been recorded.

We advise everyone who is interested to stay in our guesthouse close to the watch site (as far as 300 meters, and may be reached by step in 15 minutes). The best time to visit is the end of August to the beginning of October.
